I don’t know about you but I am so thrilled about the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit that I’m still talking about it a month later! I found this amazing “By the Tide” altered version of the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit on Pinterest the other day and just had to give it a whirl! I was inspired by the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog to put some water inside of the treat cup and hot-glue it in place using a Window Sheet. So yesterday I said that this post would feature heat embossing but I totallyf or

I started by stamping the cardstock base with the patterned chevron stamp from the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit. I also used the coral stamp from the By The Tide stamp set and added some bubbles with the grunge stamp from the very first Paper Pumpkin kit. I then cut a hole in the card using the 1 3/4″ circle punch, inserted the treat cup, filled it with water and hot glued a Window Sheet on the back of the treat cup.
Side note, I totally screwed up the first treat cup by not getting the hot glue hot enough. Yeah. That totally happened. Thankfully I had another!
After I added the window sheet, I stamped a fish from the By The Tide stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock and cut him out by hand using some Paper Snips and then cut him with the same size circle punch so he would fit in the fishbowl. I glued him onto the cut out circle and used a little washi tape to tape it in place above the window sheet. I covered the window sheet (on the back side of the card that you can’t see from this shot) with a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock so you can’t see the mess. I stamped a couple of coral branches on that for good measure.
Back to the front of the card. After the fish was put in place, I used a small piece of a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere the tail to the front of the card, aligning it with the body of the fish.
To make the sentiment, I used the Banner Framelits to cut out two banners in different sizes. A larger banner was cut from Coastal Cabana Cardstock (I snipped the top off the banner to make it shorter) and a slightly smaller one was cut from Bermuda Bay Cardstock, which was stamped with the lobster and the poem text from the By The Tide set. I sponged the edges of the smaller banner using Island Indigo Classic Stampin’ Pad and a Sponge Dauber.
To give it a little dimension, I cut a piece of Burlap Ribbon into a banner shape. I pulled some of the threads out of the ribbon to give it a little fringe. I layered the banners starting with Coastal Cabana, cut paper doily on both sides, Burlap Ribbon, Bermuda Bay Banner and, finally, the Bermuda Bay Ribbon. To finish it off, I added the glitter dots and wood cut Thank You sentiment that come with the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit. I totally accidentally snapped one of the wooden Thank You pieces in half… oops! They’re more fragile than they look!
Here’s a second altered March 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit card using basically the same supplies:
I used basically the same techniques outlined above except I cut a Window Sheet with the Banner Framelits in the same size as the Bermuda Bay banner and embossed it with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder to give it more of a watery effect. The seahorse is from the By The Tide stamp set and was stamped on Whisper White Cardstock with Gold Metallic Encore ink (although, it would look pretty rad embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder too). I hand trimmed it and adhered it to the card using a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
