Seven New Products from the 2014 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog

A Sneak Peek of Seven New Products from the 2014 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog

Hello friends! It’s been awhile! A long, long while, in fact. My summer is going well and I hope you’re enjoying yours just as much as I’m enjoying mine! Last week I had the amazing opportunity to go to Salt Lake City for Stampin’ Up!’s annual convention, “Inspire. Create. Share.” and it was nothing short of amazing. I’d like to share with you seven new products from the 2014 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog that you don’t want to miss. I’m genuinely excited about this catalog and I cannot wait for August 28th so you can see all of the goodies this year. Here are the seven products that I’m most excited about. Be sure to check out the bottom of this article to see which one my favorite is!

#7: Project Life by Stampin’ Up! – Seasonal Snapshot Kit

If you like scrapbooking but hate the amount of time it takes to complete a page, Project Life is for you! What I love about Project Life is that it takes little to no time to complete a spread. And Project Life by Stampin’ Up! card kits feature the exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors which means all of your current ink will coordinate!

I just love this kit! My favorite part is the accessories though. The accessory pack features clear card inserts that are just so much fun! You can use them as is, add sequins, background images or a plain piece of card stock! The possibilities are endless!

If you’re interested in learning more about Project Life, you’ll want to sign up for one of my classes in August! I have one scheduled on August 7th at 6pm and the other on August 21st at 6pm.

#6: The Gift Box Punch Board

Have you tried making a box with the envelope punch board only to waste a bunch of paper? Yep. Me too. And that’s why I’m excited for the new Gift Box Punch Board.

#3: Bright and Beautiful Stamp Set

Remember the Festive Flurries stamp set from the 2013 Holiday Catalog? That set was at the top of my list… and so are these stars! Yes, I already bought them — perks of being a demonstrator! Here’s the official sample from the catalog and the CASE’d version I made last night. The ribbon on this card is also new this holiday season.

#2: All is Calm Suite

I’m a big fan of cool colors, especially for Christmas. I don’t know why but I’ve never really been a fan of red, green and gold. That’s why I’m excited for this suite! Also, it goes perfectly with the Festive Flurries stamps from last year, which is still available until August 1st! The main colors in this suite are Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizzaz and Smoky Slate. And those Snowflake Embellishments are super cute and can be used to dress up your gift packaging or to make some “cool” jewelry.

#1: Frightful Wreath Simply Created Kit

I’m not a big fan of Halloween but I have to tell you that this wreath got me super excited. I’m sure my group of fellow demonstrators are already sick of hearing me talk about it. Just look at this! Isn’t it the cutest?

The spider on the wreath is pretty simple to make and all of the beads are supplied. Here’s a close up:

Expect to spend about an hour putting this together. This kit wasn’t available for pre-order at the convention and I wasn’t lucky enough to win it in the Prize Patrol so, as soon as I made it back to Redmond, I swung by Joann’s and picked up some beads to make my own version of that spider:

Interested in making this wreath? I’m holding a class in September and one in early-October. We’ll be making this wreath together!

Home decorating ideas using the Heartfelt Banner Kit

Home decorating ideas using the Heartfelt Banner Kit

It’s Thursday! So last week I kept coming home from work and trying to craft but ended up being way too tired to think of something clever for my cards. Ugh! Those days are the worst! That’s why I love kits! Most of the thinking is done for you and all you have to do is put it together. Have you seen the Heartfelt Banner Kit in the Sale-A-Bration catalog yet? This banner kit is so cute and versatile! It took me 15 minutes to put the whole thing together!

The Heartfelt Banner Kit has everything you need to create the banner you see here. It comes with 3 cut out canvas hearts, 3 rounded large banners with hearts cut out, three canvas triangle banners, three skinny canvas banner flags, 3 rose paper banners, three green polka-dot banner flags and 3 blue stripe banner flags. The kit also comes with 5 doilies, 6 mini clothes pins, 9 colored balls (3 each of pink, green and blue), two 6′ pieces of linen thread and a needle to string them all together! I did use a little bit of SNAIL to adhere the doilies onto the canvas pieces.

I started assembling my Heartfelt Banner Kit by treading the needle with one length of the linen thread and strung each ball into this piece. After they were added, I set the piece to the side and began on the banner. The banner is pretty easy to put together. All of the holes are cut out for you so all you have to do is weave the thread in and out of the holes. After threading the needle with the second length of Linen Thread, I started on the right side of each piece and pushed the needle from the top of the banner flag to the back. I then came up on the left side of the banner from the underside… and continued that to the end! I didn’t layout the pieces in any order, I just kind of winged it.

After the pieces were put together (but before tying it off) I found the perfect location and figured out how much I wanted the banner to sag. I tied a loop at one end and hung it with a tack. I then brought the other end to the other side and determined how low I wanted it to hang. I made a loop in the other end and trimmed the excess thread. I did this for both the ball-strand and the banner-strand.

But look how cute this is! It really added something extra to my mantle! Before, from any angle other than this one, all you could see was the fan on the ceiling! Well now at least I have this beautiful banner to look at! Much improved! You can get this kit for free with your $50 purchase now through March 31st.
