A Sneak Peek of Seven New Products from the 2014 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog
Hello friends! It’s been awhile! A long, long while, in fact. My summer is going well and I hope you’re enjoying yours just as much as I’m enjoying mine! Last week I had the amazing opportunity to go to Salt Lake City for Stampin’ Up!’s annual convention, “Inspire. Create. Share.” and it was nothing short of amazing. I’d like to share with you seven new products from the 2014 Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog that you don’t want to miss. I’m genuinely excited about this catalog and I cannot wait for August 28th so you can see all of the goodies this year. Here are the seven products that I’m most excited about. Be sure to check out the bottom of this article to see which one my favorite is!
#7: Project Life by Stampin’ Up! – Seasonal Snapshot Kit
If you like scrapbooking but hate the amount of time it takes to complete a page, Project Life is for you! What I love about Project Life is that it takes little to no time to complete a spread. And Project Life by Stampin’ Up! card kits feature the exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors which means all of your current ink will coordinate!

I just love this kit! My favorite part is the accessories though. The accessory pack features clear card inserts that are just so much fun! You can use them as is, add sequins, background images or a plain piece of card stock! The possibilities are endless!
If you’re interested in learning more about Project Life, you’ll want to sign up for one of my classes in August! I have one scheduled on August 7th at 6pm and the other on August 21st at 6pm.
#6: The Gift Box Punch Board
Have you tried making a box with the envelope punch board only to waste a bunch of paper? Yep. Me too. And that’s why I’m excited for the new Gift Box Punch Board.

#5: Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit
Everything you need (ink, stamps and adhesive not included) to make 5 each of 4 beautiful designs. The best part? It’s super quick and easy to put together!

#4: Bearing Gifts Stamp
Like coloring your stamps? This stamp is so cute and so perfect for Watercoloring, Blendabilities or just coloring with your Stampin’ Write markers. Bonus sneak peek: See those shimmering stars on the card? They were made from the new Confetti Stars Punch! Be very excited.

#3: Bright and Beautiful Stamp Set
Remember the Festive Flurries stamp set from the 2013 Holiday Catalog? That set was at the top of my list… and so are these stars! Yes, I already bought them — perks of being a demonstrator! Here’s the official sample from the catalog and the CASE’d version I made last night. The ribbon on this card is also new this holiday season.
Bright and Beautiful
#2: All is Calm Suite
I’m a big fan of cool colors, especially for Christmas. I don’t know why but I’ve never really been a fan of red, green and gold. That’s why I’m excited for this suite! Also, it goes perfectly with the Festive Flurries stamps from last year, which is still available until August 1st! The main colors in this suite are Lost Lagoon, Pear Pizzaz and Smoky Slate. And those Snowflake Embellishments are super cute and can be used to dress up your gift packaging or to make some “cool” jewelry.

#1: Frightful Wreath Simply Created Kit
I’m not a big fan of Halloween but I have to tell you that this wreath got me super excited. I’m sure my group of fellow demonstrators are already sick of hearing me talk about it. Just look at this! Isn’t it the cutest?
Frightful Wreath Simply Created Kit
The spider on the wreath is pretty simple to make and all of the beads are supplied. Here’s a close up:

Expect to spend about an hour putting this together. This kit wasn’t available for pre-order at the convention and I wasn’t lucky enough to win it in the Prize Patrol so, as soon as I made it back to Redmond, I swung by Joann’s and picked up some beads to make my own version of that spider:
Interested in making this wreath? I’m holding a class in September and one in early-October. We’ll be making this wreath together!
Good news! This week only take advantage of free shipping on any orders you place from my store! Also, we’ll be playing “Mystery Hostess!” Just use hostess code WJD2UASU when you place your order online before Friday at 11pm PST and your name will be entered into a jar once for every $50 you spend during the free shipping promotion! So if you spend $100, your name will be entered twice; and so on. The winner will be chosen randomly and announced on Monday.

2014 Retired Stampin’ Up! Products
The winner of the retired stampsAnd the winner is… Melissa M.!
Melissa correctly guessed 4 out of 10 sets correctly (Secret Garden, page 94; Fabulous Florets, page 93; Take Care, page 92; Gingham page 82). Way to go Melissa! You should have already received the email with the instructions on how you can redeem the $25 gift certificate.
This year, Stampin’ Up! is doing things a little differently with their retired products than they have done in the past. New this year: both stamps and accessories will be available only while supplies last. Items will likely start selling out tomorrow because of the free shipping promotion.
PRO TIP: The In Color Re-inkers are the very first thing to sell out. This year’s retiring In Colors are Raspberry Ripple (sold out already), Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse and Primrose Petals. The next things to go are In Color Cardstock then other discounted or popular accessories. Expect the Ruffle Stretch Trim to go fast too (I’m too bummed about this one)!

Play the “Guess the Retired Stampin’ Up! Stamp Sets” Game
Did you know the new annual catalog release is coming? Whenever a new catalog is released it means some stamp sets are retired and no longer available from Stampin’ Up. And while it’s a drag so many great sets get left out of the new catalog, it’s also an exciting time for you because you get to play the most awesome guessing game ever! Okay, maybe not the most awesome but definitely the only one that lets you pick your choice of $25 in product from my online store!
Want to know how to play? It’s easy!
- Flip through the 2013-2014 annual catalog and tell me which 10 stamp sets you think will be retired on April 21st!
- Then send me that list by sending it to stacey at a work of carte dot com (remove spaces and substitute symbols for at and dot)
- The person who guesses the most correctly gets to choose up to $25 in merchandise from my store!

Announcing Project Life!
Lots of exciting news today! Stampin’ Up just announced a new product line called “Project Life” (yes, the Project Life by Becky Higgins) that will be available starting May 1st! Project Life by Stampin’ Up will come in our exclusive line of colors and will not be available in any store. Just what is Project Life? I’m so glad you asked! Project Life is a super simple, totally affordable way to get your photo into albums. You just slip your photos into Photo Pocket Pages and add designed cards. It’s a back-to-basics approach to documenting your life.
Here’s some FAQ’s that Becky was kind enough to share on her site:
Q: What types of Project Life products will Stampin’ Up! offer?
A: You’ll see Card Collections, Accessory Packs, Albums, Photo Pocket Pages, tools, other accessories, and Stamps, of course!
Q: Are the card designs the same as what we can buy in the stores?
A: Nope! We have worked with Stampin’ Up! to design all new products that are super fun and a perfect match to their existing color lines which will make coordination a breeze. Some of the Photo Pocket Page designs are the same and some are different than what we currently offer.
Q: How do I buy these products?
A: Beginning May 1st, you can purchase products directly through my online store!
Q: Are the products packaged the same as existing products (i.e. Core Kits, Mini Kits, etc.)?
A: Most Project Life by Stampin’ Up! products will be sold in Card Collections of 100 cards with 4×6, 4×4, and 3×4 card sizes included. Each card will be printed front + back as all of our current products, but you will not receive duplicates of any cards in the set. Oh – And we’re doing square (not rounded) corners on all of our cards with Stampin’ Up! Yes, there’s an awesome corner rounder punch included in the product line-up if that floats your boat. There will also be Accessory Packs available (sold separately) that will contain a variety of accessories to complement the Card Collection.
A new catalog is coming!
The 2014-2015 Annual Catalog launch is right around the corner. I can tell you that there are a couple of really awesome things lined up from the catalog (Project Life is one of them) and I can’t wait to share everything with you! Just like with all catalog launches, there will be lots of products retired. The retired product list will be available on April 21st and the last day to order any retired products will be on June 4th.
Spoiler Alert! April 2014 Paper Pumpkin is super cute!
Have you seen this month’s paper pumpkin yet? There was a sneak peek on the Stampin’ Up YouTube Channel. This month’s paper pumpkin is a perfect micro project for Mother’s Day and comes with three photopolymer stamps: four notched chevrons (perfect for a background pattern), a “For You” stamp and a “Happy Mothers Day” stamp, which is perfect because I was just thinking about how I needed one! Don’t mind spoilers? Check out what you’ll be making this month!
Isn’t this just the cutest! I can’t wait until mine arrives!
Weekly Deals Good Through April 21st
Some pretty useful things on the deal list this week. I’ve been eyeballing that chevron ribbon and just might have to pickup a couple of spools! Right now is the best time to stock up because this item is a mini-catalog item and will likely be retired in a month! Click the image to view all of the deals this week.
What I’ve been working on
So for the past week or so, I’ve had my face in a couple thousand lines of code making a WordPress plugin that I hope will dramatically improve the user experience for Stampin’ Up demonstrators using a self-hosted WordPress solution for their website. Long story short? I probably won’t have any cards for the site this week but I’ll try to squeeze in a project by Friday. I’m hoping to get this plugin released as soon as it’s done (I just started coding it so it might take a few weeks or so) and I’m super excited to share it with all of my demo friends! Stay tuned!
Hello friends! How have you been? Gosh it’s been so long! Just wanted to pop in and deliver some updates for you guys. I just got the By The Tide stamp set and had to use it. I made the beautiful card you see here with the seashell from the set. More info on that below but first some updates! So the last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic for me. We celebrated my daughter’s fifth birthday in March–my parents came to town! It was a great time. I also got to go to San Francisco a couple of weeks ago for the Ad:Tech conference, which was pretty neat. On top of all that, I’ve been writing a couple of outlines to submit as a speaker proposal for the upcoming WordPress conference: Seattle WordCamp!
WordPress user? Never been to a WordCamp? It’s awesome! WordCamp is meant for all sorts of users of WordPress whether you are a blogger or a developer or you just want to know more. It’s inexpensive–tickets are typically only $20–and they’re held all over the world! Check out the Seattle WordCamp site for more info. Don’t live in Seattle? There’s probably a WordCamp near you! Visit WordCamp Central to find your closest WordCamp. If there’s two things I don’t shut up about, it’s WordPress and Stampin’ Up!
Stampin’ Up in Japan
And speaking of Stampin’ Up!, huge news for those of you who live in Japan… Stampin’ Up will be opening for business in Japan later this year! Here’s the information we were given:
At Stampin’ Up!, we say hello many ways: hello, bonjour, Hallo, G’day, and ¡hola! Now we can add Kon’nichiwa to the list. We’re excited to announce that later this year we will be open for business in Japan!
Why Japan? Japan holds great promise for Stampin’ Up! Japan is a culture that loves creativity and crafting-so Japan and Stampin’ Up! are the perfect pair.
As a preview to our launch later this year, we’re taking part in the largest hobby show in Asia on April 24-26 in Tokyo. This will be a great opportunity to showcase our products and share the Stampin’ Up! experience with crafters in Japan. If you have friends and family in Japan, tell them about our participation in the show and encourage them to visit our booth to find out more about Stampin’ Up! and our exciting products.
We’ll let you know more about this exciting launch as it gets closer.
How awesome is that! I know that I’m excited for all you crafters overseas!
Weekly Deals Good Through April 14
There’s a couple of great deals this week. I know that I’ve been eyeballing that Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for quite some time now. Ooh it would go perfectly with my assortment of flower punches… Click the image to view all Weekly Deals.
Quick Project: Simple, Ocean-Inspired Any-Occasion Card
Isn’t this just the cutest! I got the idea from Diane Dimich, who posted a video on YouTube demonstrating how to make a nested banner card. You guys should check that video out!
So like I was saying, I recently got the By the Tide stamp set, which features this beautiful seashell among other great stamps and I just had to use it immediately. I also got my hands on a heat embosser, some Versamark ink and some gold heat embossing powder and, needless to say, I’m ADDICTED to heat embossing now! Be watching for more great embossed cards in the future! In fact, my next post is going to feature both heat embossing and the March 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit. And seriously, who didn’t love that kit?
